there is nothing quite like realizing that a guy who sits directly behind you came to the office and you didn’t notice and what was on your screen the entire time was one of the jbdubs’ mvs. time to pokerface my way through the day~

hello~ i’m back in korea, back at work and back on tumblr. what did i miss?

i had an amazing week on bali - enormous thanks go to kurimja and her family for inviting me and making the experience unforgettable~<3

i’ve started the work today by quitting my company and re-employing for a separate studio they’ve created for my team. now we’re a 4 person mini game studio =D good bye innodis, hello darumaru (though from what i’ve heard we might get a change of the name soon). unexpected reemployment was unexpected. now let’s see how long it’ll take them to work me into the ground lol~

i am sitting at work drawing ships.

kawaii ships.

and no.

sadly i don’t mean ships.

i mean actual, literal ships.

being kawaii.

yes.

oh i guess i should clarify D:

i was talking about the drawings i do at work. i’m doing monster design for a casual smartphone game. basically i do the designs on quite a big canvas (2000x2000 and up) and then they’re being shrunk to tiny sprites and animated. the problem is i’m used to very detailed semi-realistic works and it’s seriously difficult to switch to something closer to cellshading /sigh..

thanks for all the awesome advices though. they sound very helpful! ;v;

i never would’ve thought..

..that it’ll be so difficult to lower the quality of drawings.

team leader tells me to draw less detailed / lower quality works…

apparently my rendering is too smooth and when they shrink the images all the details get lost anyway.

but..

how do i do that.. i can’t..

they tell me to finish at the point when it still looks so bad……

/sobbing forever

finally

this is all so sudden. this morning i got an unexpected transfer to the graphics team (i was working with the marketing team before, even though some of my work still involved graphics). i am now officially a game artist haha~ i will be working in 2d although it is still uncertain which project i’ll be assigned to work on. but yeah~ i just moved to my new spot in the office and man, it feels good ;v;
